| Over het wijnhuis | Het in 2000 opgerichte Toscaanse wijnhuis van de charismatische Bibi Graetz heeft de afgelopen twintig jaar een ware cultstatus bereikt. Het wijnhuis kent met zijn eigenzinnige wijnen én kunstzinnige etiketten vele liefhebbers. Daar hoort ook de internationale wijnpers bij, die inmiddels de topwijnen Colore en Testamatta jaarlijks zeer hoge punten toekent. |
| Wijngaard en regio | De druiven komen van het eiland Isola del Giglio, gelegen voor de Toscaanse kust. De bodems zijn hier arm en bevatten veel graniet. De zeewind beïnvloedt het klimaat aanzienlijk. Voor de Colore Bianco worden enkel druiven gebruikt uit de zeer bijzondere Pietrabona-wijngaard. Deze wijngaard ligt in het zuidwestelijke deel van het eiland, richting de zee, op een hoogte van 200-500 meter. Deze wijngaard is in terrasvorm aangelegd. De wijnstokken zijn tot wel 100 jaar oud. Bijzonder aan de wijngaard is dat de granieten rotsen zijn aangetast door de wind, zon, zout én tijd waardoor ze deels tot zand zijn afgebroken. |
| Vinificatie | De druiven worden ontsteeld en daarna zacht geperst (met droogijs). Het sap wordt vergist in RVS tanks op een lage temperatuur gedurende 6-7 dagen. Halverwege de vergisting wordt 70% van de wijn overgeplaatst naar barriques (een derde nieuw, een derde een jaar oud, een derde twee jaar oud) waar de vergisting verder gaat gedurende 10 dagen, zonder temperatuurregeling. Na de vergisting rijpt dit deel nog 7 maanden verder in barriques, terwijl de wijn in contact blijft met de gistcellen. Dit zorgt voor extra complexiteit en romigheid. De andere 30% van de wijn rijpt verder in RVS tanks. Tenslotte wordt de wijn geblend. |

| Awards | "Made with the Ansonica grape from a special vineyard site in the Pietrabuona valley on this rustic Tuscan island, the Bibi Graetz 2023 Isola del Giglio Colore Bianco offers a pretty bouquet with peach, orange peel, sea salt and baked apple. The wine is soft and textured with mild acidity. Bibi says he did not experience problems with fungal diseases in 2023 on Giglio island. Vertical, saline and textured, it has a stony profile with more concentration than Testamatta, and its subtle lemon peel and apple mid-palate lends complexity.
