| Over het wijnhuis | Het in 2000 opgerichte Toscaanse wijnhuis van de charismatische Bibi Graetz heeft de afgelopen twintig jaar een ware cultstatus bereikt. Het wijnhuis kent met zijn eigenzinnige wijnen én kunstzinnige etiketten vele liefhebbers. Daar hoort ook de internationale wijnpers bij, die inmiddels de topwijnen Colore en Testamatta jaarlijks zeer hoge punten toekent. |
| Wijngaard en regio | De wijn is vernoemd naar de single vineyard Vincigliata in Fiesole. De wijngaard is rijk aan galestro (poreuze steensoort die makkelijk breekt). De wijngaard is op het zuiden en zuidwesten gericht en is omgeven door een bos. |
| Vinificatie | De wijn wordt spontaan vergist met natuurlijke gisten in grote houten vaten (30 hl) zonder temperatuurregeling. Dit duurt 10 dagen, waarna de wijn nog enkele dagen schilinweking krijgt. De wijn rijpt vervolgens 18 maanden in oude grote houten vaten. |

| Awards | "I have not tasted this Bibi Graetz wine since the 2014 vintage. Featuring his artwork on the front label (created when Bibi was a 23-year-old art student), the 2022 Soffocone di Vincigliata is all Sangiovese, mostly from his family's historic plots, both warm parcels and cooler parcels, near Fiesole in Vincigliata. This wine has made big improvements over the years. Showing a dark hue and extra concentration for the grape, it delivers blackberry, lead pencil and powdery tannins on the finish. It ages in oak for 18 months in Bibi's crazy hotel-turned-winery facility, but only 0.5% of the oak is new. The rest of the barrels are 20 years old or more. Bibi seeks oxygen exchange, and he vinifies his parcels separately. I asked him about coopers, but he says he is less interested in brands and uses a mix of barrels from all over." - 93 punten, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate over de 2022-vintage "Zwoel, kruiden, warm, rozenbottel. It’s silken in feel, with cool-toned acidity and a liquid floral concentration that coats the senses. A lovely wine that is lively and characterful on the palate and has great length but not as GV as the Casamatta. I'm sure this will age very well.
