Druivenras Cabernet Franc, Merlot

Awards “Pretty aromas of lavender, fresh blueberry, plum, pine cone and mocha. It’s full-bodied with firm, creamy tannins. Fresh and rich at the same time with seamless layers. Chewy at the end. Try from 2024.” – James Suckling

”This has cashmere-textured crushed plum and black currant preserve notes laced with a mouthwatering anise note and backed by a spark of savory through the graphite-edged finish. Nicely done. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2034.” – Wine Spectator

”The 2018 Domaine de l’Eglise is really quite lovely on the nose, featuring ample black cherries, boysenberry and a seductive honey-like background aroma that betrays the warmth of that year’s later summer. I admire the purity of these aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins that lend this Pomerol a satisfying velvety texture. Bright upon first acquaintance, with aeration it actually draws back a little, ending up quite firm on the finish but very focused and harmonious. As I remarked from barrel, Domaine de l’Eglise has produced a very commendable follow-up to the 2017, indicative of a Pomerol that pulled up its bootstraps.” – Vinous

”This is elegant but serious with tannins and fruit that stay on the right side of savoury, and are not drying, despite the fairly evident austerity. There is plenty of cassis and smoky bitter chocolate in the glass with a floral character that comes out after a few moments. This will age but if you want earlier drinking from the Casteja stable, go for the excellent Croix de Casse. They kept extraction extremely gentle and fermentation to 26oC to ensure the tannins were not overpowering. A yield of 34hl/ha. Drinking Window 2026 – 2036.” – Decanter
