| Over het wijnhuis | Château Grand-Puy Ducasse is een 5ème Cru Classé in Pauillac. Het landgoed heeft beroemde buren. De wijngaarden grenzen aan die van Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Lafite Rothschild en Château Pontet-Canet in het noorden. Het landgoed ligt echter aan de monding van de Gironde, wat Château Grand-Puy Ducasse één van de weinige huizen maakt waarvan het château zich niet in de wijngaarden bevindt. |

| Awards | "The 2022 Grand-Puy-Ducasse exhibits aromas of cassis, tobacco leaf violets and new oak, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate with a sweet core of fruit, ripe acids and chalky structuring tannins that assert themselves on the finish. This is a solid but somewhat rustic effort." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate "The blackcurrants and lead pencil come through clearly here with crushed-stone undertones that follow through to a full body with a solid core of fruit that is defined and polished. It’s velvety but then turns to refined silk with a lovely finish. Please give this at least four or five years to soften and open." - James Suckling "58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot. Very dark with a black core. Dark, rocky aroma. Big, thickly tannic and rich. Quite hard to taste now though it's balanced between fruit and massive tannic structure. Firmest of tannic grips yet not aggressive. Best from 2028 through 2042." - Wine Spectator "Bright and full, tannins are on the imposing side and immediately fill the mouth in a mass of fleshy blackcurrant, liquorice, graphite, slate, tobacco and cinnamon - but slightly more savoury than too spiced which I like. There's also shots of cool blueberries and mint which lift the frame. This feels controlled, definitely powerful but reigned in too. Could do with a bit more acidity and juiciness on the mid palate which makes this altogether quite serious but fans of Pauillac will enjoy the power on show." - Decanter |
