Druivenras	Grenache
Over het wijnhuis	Clos Saint Jean kan probleemloos gerekend worden tot één van de tophuizen uit de appellatie. Het is een bedrijf met een enorme historie aan internationale topscores. Clos Saint Jean maakt Châteauneuf-du-Pape zoals Châteauneuf-du-Pape bedoeld is. Daarnaast maakt het wijnhuis ook een Vin de Pays de Vaucluse die behoort tot de beste uit de regio.
Wijngaard en regio	Afkomstig uit één kleine perceel in het befaamde La Crau-gedeelte van Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Dit perceel werd aangeplant in 1905 en geeft lage opbrengsten.
Vinificatie	Na de oogst worden de druiven ontsteeld. Een deel van de druiven wordt gekneusd (afhankelijk van het oogstjaar). Vervolgens worden de druiven vergist in betonnen vaten. Dit kan, inclusief schilweking, tot 35 dagen duren. Na de gisting ondergaat de wijn een rijping in demi-muids (eikenhouten vaten van 640 liter).

But this doesn't matter at all, because the alcohol is so well integrated. It enters the stage with a mindbogglingly complex perfume of crushed violets, freshly-cut blood orange, ripe red and black fruits, cloves, licorice, mint, dried herbs and crushed rocks. Swathed in velvety tannins, the palate is full-bodied and layered, ending with excellent persistence on the bold finish." - Vinous "Very alluring, and while densely packed, this is very silky and refined in feel. Presents perfumed raspberry, cherry and plum puree notes laced with sandalwood, incense and rooibos tea. Dark and intense, it delivers waves of purple berries and black cherries, barely touched by vanilla and cedar. It's full-bodied and rich, and although the wood tannins do leave an impression, it's a gentle one relative to the wine's overall profile.
