| Over het wijnhuis | In 1973 richt Claudio Barbi zijn eigen wijnhuis in Orvieto op. Claudio is al geruime tijd op zoek naar een wijnhuis waar hij zich kan specialiseren in kwaliteitswijnen, als hij stuit op het verlaten landhuis ‘Decugnano’ in Orvieto. Het landschap valt hem op vanwege het prachtige terroir en hij besluit dan ook het landgoed te kopen en om te dopen tot Decugnano dei Barbi. Het landgoed was vroeger in handen van de kerk: al sinds 1212 werd er wijn verkocht. |
| Wijngaard en regio | Afkomstig van verschillende wijngaarden in Orvieto, Umbrië. De bodem bestaat uit mergel en leem en is rijk aan fossiele schelpen. De wijngaarden liggen op 320 meter boven zeeniveau. |
| Vinificatie | De gisting vindt plaats op een gecontroleerde temperatuur van 24 graden in RVS tanks voor 12 tot 15 dagen. Daarna volgt een schilweking van 7 tot 14 dagen. Een derde van de wijn rijpt 12 maanden in eikenhouten vaten. Daarna wordt de wijn geblend en gebotteld. De wijn rijpt nog 6 maanden op de fles voordat deze op de markt wordt gebracht. |

It finishes with staining length and structure, leaving hints of licorice and blood orange to linger on and on.
