| Over het wijnhuis | De familie Masi is een wijnbouwfamilie in hart en nieren en maakt al wijn in de Chianti-streek sinds 1900. Het wijnhuis ligt in het bekende wijndorp Rufina, waar ze Chianti, Chianti Riserva en een aantal modernere stijlen maken. Het wijnhuis heet Basciano. Onder deze naam komt de beste Chianti van het wijnhuis op de markt, namelijk de Rufina Riserva. Daarnaast maakt Fattoria di Basciano met druiven uit eigen wijngaard de blends I Pini en Il Corto, beiden gerijpt in Franse barriques, zoals bij Super Tuscans gebeurt. |
| Wijngaard en regio | Afkomstig van geselecteerde wijngaarden in de omgeving van Rufina, Toscane. De wijngaarden liggen in de heuvels op zo'n 300 tot 350 meter hoogte. De druiven worden 7 tot 10 dagen later geplukt dan de Chianti Rufina. |
| Vinificatie | De gisting vindt plaats op een gecontroleerde temperatuur in RVS tanks. Daarna rijpt de wijn 18 maanden op Frans eikenhout, waarvan de helft nieuw. De wijn rijpt nog een half jaar verder in de fles, voordat deze op de markt wordt gebracht. |
