| Over het wijnhuis | In 1978 worden Roman en Adelheid Pfaffl op jonge leeftijd eigenaar van Weingut Pfaffl in Stetten, een dorpje net ten noorden van Wenen in de regio Weinviertel. Voor 1978 stond boerderij Pfaffl in het teken van graan, aardappels en vee. Er is in korte tijd veel veranderd. Tegenwoordig staat Pfaffl internationaal symbool voor Grüner Veltliner. Ze zijn zelfs door Wine Enthusiast verkozen tot European Winery of the Year. |
| Wijngaard en regio | Afkomstig van de wijngaard 'Hundsleiten' die zich bevindt op het Bisambergkette bij Wenen. Een steil en moeilijk te bewerken gebied. De bodem van deze wijngaard is een lokale bijzonderheid: de bodemsoort wordt ter plaatse 'Flysch' genoemd en bestaat uit klei en zandsteen. Daarnaast heeft de wijngaard ook nog kwarts in de bodem zitten. De stokken zijn aangeplant begin jaren '80 en zijn meer dan 40 jaar oud. |
| Vinificatie | De druiven worden ontsteeld en gekneusd. Ze ondergaan een schilweking van 8 uur voordat ze worden geperst. De gisting vindt plaats in grote, houten vaten. Daarna rijpt 50% van de wijn in dezelfde vaten voor 6 maanden. |
