| Over het wijnhuis | Quinta de Santa Teresa is het Portugese wijndomein van Alexandre & Dialiana Gomas, technische ingenieurs met veel liefde voor wijn. Die technische precisie zie je direct terug in de extreem gezonde wijngaarden en zeer schone winery. Het wijnhuis bezit wijngaarden in Baião. Deze wijnstreek hoort in naam bij Vinho Verde, maar ligt landinwaarts tegen de Douro aan. Verwacht geen koolzuur of laag alcohol, maar een moderne stijl witte wijnen die rijker is dan menig Vinho Verde. Dit zijn wijnen met aromatische expressie en veel frisheid. |
| Wijngaard en regio | Afkomstig uit de Vinho Verde-subregio Baião, pal tegen het Douro-gebied aan. In dit warmere microklimaat verkrijgen de druiven een voor Vinho Verde bijzonder aromatische concentratie. Voor deze wijn worden druiven van de noordelijke hellingen gebruikt. |
| Vinificatie | De druiven worden met de hand geplukt en geselecteerd. De druiven worden ontsteeld en vervolgens gekneusd waarbij ze in contact blijven met de schillen gedurende een periode. De gisting vindt plaats in RVS tanks. De wijn blijft 12 maanden rijpen waarbij de wijn in contact is met de gistcellen. Dit zorgt voor extra romigheid en complexiteit in de wijn. Tijdens het proces wordt zo min mogelijk ingegrepen om een zo direct mogelijke vertaling te krijgen van de druif, de wijngaard en het klimaat. De wijn wordt niet gefilterd voor het bottelen. |

| Awards | "A&D is doing great things with Avesso in Baião, taming the variety's richness with subtle winemaking. This iteration has lovely structure thanks to skin contact and lees ageing. Ripe pear, red apple peel, melon, white grapefruit and quince at the core, with wild oregano, thyme and dried mint. The acid is soft but focused, with lively hints of ginger and pink pepper adding freshness." - 94 punten, Decanter over de 2021-vintage "The 2019 Avesso Quinta de Santa Teresa is unoaked, dry (3.3 grams of residual sugar and 7.1 of total acidity) and comes in at 13.4% alcohol. When last seen, this was very fine. It might be better than that now. It is improving slowly, but it still needs some development time. Mouth-coating and full-bodied, this increasingly looks like a big winner. It has the freshness to cut through the mid-palate, but it always seems fairly deep as well as perfectly balanced. It does need to unwind more. Give this another year for best results. It is about to blossom, but it is not quite there yet. It still needs to be more expressive.
