| Over het wijnhuis | RedHeads Studio is opgericht door een groep jonge wijnmakers, die hun eigen wijndomein zijn gestart in McLaren Vale, Australië. Samen zoeken ze de beste percelen van Zuid-Australië op en 'bevrijden' ze druiven uit de handen van de grote namen om wijnen met ziel, karakter en persoonlijkheid te maken.
De legende van de Apenkoning op het etiket begint in 638 na Christus. Ondeugend als hij was kon geen enkele hoeveelheid wijn zijn goddelijke dorst lessen, en kon geen enkele hoeveelheid geroosterde kokosnoten (‘noix de coco rôties’) zijn hemelse honger stillen. |
| Wijngaard en regio | De Syrah, met kleine druifjes, komt uit McLaren Vale, uit een single vineyard met stokken van 30 jaar oud. De druiven worden met de hand geplukt en in de kelder gesorteerd. |
| Vinificatie | De Syrah en Viognier vergisten samen in open vaten. Dat duurt 15 dagen, waarbij de 'hoed' (de bovendrijvende druivenschillen) twee keer per dag naar beneden wordt geduwd voor meer kleur, smaak en extractie. De wijn rijpt 14 maanden in eikenhouten vaten, waarvan 25% nieuw. |
