Awards | "This shows notes of black plums, currants, chili chocolate and vanilla. Bright and spicy with a medium to full body and tangy acidity. Perfumed and elegant this year. 85% merlot and 15% cabernet franc." - James Suckling "The 2021 Château de la Dauphine has a wonderful bouquet for the vintage, with bright blackberry, wild strawberry and cedar aromas that could either be Left or Right Bank (neither…it's Fronsac!). The palate is well-balanced with a nicely defined entry, a keen line of acidity and a fresh, elegant and pure raspberry and wild strawberry finish. This is a fantastic Fronsac considering the growing season." - Vinous "Beautifully lifted and aromatic nose, smells wonderful with such clarity. Juicy and succulent, lovely energy straight away, fruit is bright but not sour with a soft hint of both sweetness and cooling freshness. Layers of minerality and wet stones offset the fruit and the well integrated tannins give the structure. Not lean but not massy, a lovely balance for a finessed, delicate wine in 2021. Ends a touch light but give this time." - Decanter |
