Druivenras Cabernet Franc, Merlot

Awards "From sandy soils on the plain, below Berliquet and next to Jonathan Maltus' new winery, the 2019 Croix Canon offers up aromas of raspberries, plums, loamy soil and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, ample and charming, with melting tannins and succulent acids, it's already drinking well." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Ripe plums and berries with hints of dried flowers and cedar, following through to a medium-to full-bodied palate with a chalky and stony undertone to the plum and cherry character. It’s finely textured and long. Drink after 2025." - James Suckling

"Tasted blind. Cassis aroma. Then a tad dilute on the palate. Just needs a bit more intensity! Lightly saline." - Jancis Robinson

"The 2019 Croix Canon has a classically-styled bouquet with tobacco and cedar infused black fruit, more Left than Right Bank. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, but this is well-balanced, quite old school in style with a fresh, sapid finish. I can imagine finishing a bottle easily, though it needs cellar time. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting." - Vinous

"Shows cherry paste, plum and melted red licorice notes that are all wrapped up together, with a singed alder spine guiding the finish. Feels pure, too, thankfully. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2030." - Wine Spectator

"Lovely fragranced strawberries and red cherries on the nose, soft and beguiling. Intense and concentrated on the palate but with excellent clarity and energy. It's dark in profile, black fruits are covered in an almost sweet, sticky liquorice tang that gives texture and body and just a hint of spice. Round and smooth overall this has real class. Precise and sauve with lots to like and a long fresh and cooling aftertaste. A great buy." - Decanter
