Kleur | Lichtgeel. |
Geur | "Right away, the striking biscuity nose (probably from maturation on the lees) pulls you into this very complete, beautifully balanced dry Pfalz riesling. Then the wide spectrum of yellow fruit, everything from Mirabelle plums to ripe mangoes, opens up on the concentrated, medium-bodied palate. Wonderful elegance in the very long, polished finish. A cuvee of wines from nine-year-old vines in the Jesuitengarten and eight-year-old vines in the Pechstein GG sites. From biodynamically grown grapes. Vegan." - James Suckling "The 2023 Riesling Forst Village is equal parts Jesuitengarten and Pechstein, from young vines. Beautiful smokiness still covers the nose. The palate has immense clarity, ripe brightness and immense balance. Nothing here sticks out. It's very much that golden cut in the Pfalz. This is a wine for those who might usually shy away from Riesling. (Bone-dry)" - Vinous "One might call the Forster the darling of Bürklin-Wolf’s Ortsweine (village wines), because it does not complicate issues. The fruit is juicy but not overtly sweet, the taste of apple, pear and melon served with delicate nutty and spicy nuances on a mouth-watering texture. (MS)" - 17/20, Jancis Robinson over de 2019-vintage "From eight-year-old vines planted in high density (8,000 vines per hectare) in the Pechstein and the Jesuitengarten grands crus, the golden-yellow 2022 Forst Village shows a deep, intense and refined bouquet with a very distinctive smoky/flinty note of basalt, firestone and sulfur spring. On the palate, this is a very elegant, saline and mineral, highly expressive Forster Riesling with a very fine and gentle acidity and a lovely and persistent mineral freshness with lingering salinity and fine bitterness. This is a remarkably fine and age-worthy wine that was bottled with six grams per liter of total acidity and a 3.0 pH. 12% stated alcohol." |

Awards | "The 2023 Forst Village Riesling trocken is deep, cool and fresh on the elegant, substantial and saline nose that shows ripe and concentrated bright fruit with delicate flinty notes. Rich and powerful and with apparent rather smooth acidity, this is a full-bodied and intense Riesling with a savory, still edgy and quite powerful yet also complex and mineral finish. It will gain in finesse and elegance with further bottle age. 12% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Tasted at the domaine in January 2025." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate "Right away, the striking biscuity nose (probably from maturation on the lees) pulls you into this very complete, beautifully balanced dry Pfalz riesling.
