| Over het wijnhuis | Bruna Grimaldi is een vooruitstrevende Barolo-producent uit de kleine Barolo-comune Grinzane Cavour. Het dorpje is qua naam en imago vele malen groter dan zijn oppervlakte. Uit het dorpje komen waanzinnige, vaak onontdekte en betaalbare Barolo’s vandaan, zoals die van Bruna Grimaldi. |
| Wijngaard en regio | Afkomstig van wijngaarden uit verschillende cru's in het Barolo-gebied, waaronder uit de gemeentes Roddi, La Morra, Diano d'Alba en ook van daarbuiten, in Sinio. De wijngaarden zijn grotendeels kalkhoudend, en liggen op hoogtes tussen 250-240 meter en zijn gericht op het zuiden/zuidoosten/zuidwesten. |
| Vinificatie | De druiven worden geheel ontsteeld. Traditionele vergisting met een schilweking van 10 tot 12 dagen. Daarna ondergaat de wijn een rijping in tonneaux en grote houten vaten gedurende 12 tot 15 maanden. Na de houtrijping rijpt de wijn nog 8 tot 10 maanden in de fles. |

| Awards | "The Bruna Grimaldi 2023 Barbera d'Alba Superiore Scassa comes from a site that was so difficult to farm, rocks had to be broken, hence the wine's name—"Scassa" refers to this difficult clearing process. However, fruit is actually blended from five sites in three villages: Roddi, Diano d'Alba and Sinio. The wine delivers a tight and restrained interpretation of Barbera that doesn't lean into extraction or overdone flavors. Instead, it reveals a contained bouquet with bright cherry fruit and blackberry, some spice and sweet almond, but it never goes overboard, and that's the best thing about this pretty wine. In fact, it is among the more gastronomic of the Barbera d'Albas on the market today.
