| Over het wijnhuis | Bruna Grimaldi is een vooruitstrevende Barolo-producent uit de kleine Barolo-comune Grinzane Cavour. Het dorpje is qua naam en imago vele malen groter dan zijn oppervlakte. Uit het dorpje komen waanzinnige, vaak onontdekte en betaalbare Barolo’s vandaan, zoals die van Bruna Grimaldi. |
| Wijngaard en regio | Afkomstig van de cru-wijngaard Badarina in de comune (gemeente) Serralunga d'Alba in Barolo. De wijngaard is kalkhoudend, ligt op 420 meter boven zeeniveau en is gericht op het zuiden/zuidoosten. De wijnstokken zijn ongeveer 25 jaar oud. |
| Vinificatie | Traditionele vergisting met een schilweking van 20 tot 30 dagen. Daarna ondergaat de wijn een rijping in grote houten vaten gedurende 24 tot 30 maanden. Na de houtrijping rijpt de wijn nog 8 tot 10 maanden in de fles. |

| Awards | "Enticing aromas of dark cherry, bay laurel and peppermint are revealed with coaxing. Midweight rather than full, this isn’t massively concentrated. Rather, it is vertically driven with great mineral depth and a bitter chocolate edge. The tannins are strong but seamlessly integrated, and there's a sapid saline tang on the finish. While Bruna established her estate in Grinzane Cavour, she has strong ties to Serralunga d’Alba as her mother was born and raised in the heart of Badarina. Minerally and savoury rather than fruity at this stage, but there is some fine perfumed red fruit hiding underneath all of this. That sweetness eventually leans into earthy aromas and lightly toasted spice. The wine offers smooth tannins and an accessible overall feel. Badarina is located in Serralunga d'Alba at 440 meters in elevation. There is a tiny part of fruit from the Vigna Regnola, although most of that fruit went to a wine that will be released in 2026. Regnola is a subsection that is pulled apart for its own bottling and has also been featured in the Riserva. This mid-weight, rather nervy Barolo offers a good bit of aromatic intensity to match its taut frame. I admire its energy and somewhat quirky personality. Bright acids pull it all together on the finish.
