| Over het wijnhuis | Bruna Grimaldi is een vooruitstrevende Barolo-producent uit de kleine Barolo-comune Grinzane Cavour. Het dorpje is qua naam en imago vele malen groter dan zijn oppervlakte. Uit het dorpje komen waanzinnige, vaak onontdekte en betaalbare Barolo’s vandaan, zoals die van Bruna Grimaldi. |
| Wijngaard en regio | Afkomstig van wijngaarden uit verschillende cru's in de DOCG Barolo. Dat zijn Raviole en Borzone (beiden gelegen in de comune Grinzane Cavour), Roero di Santa Maria (La Morra), San Lorenzo di Verduno (Verduno), Bricco Ambrogio (Roddi) en Badarina (Serralunga d'Alba). De wijngaarden zijn kalkhoudend, en alle vier liggen ze op 220-280 meter boven zeeniveau en zijn ze gericht op het zuiden/zuidwesten. Raviole en Borzone zorgen voor aardse tonen in de wijn. San Lorenzo di Verduno en Roero di Santa Maria geven aromatische tonen van rozen mee aan de wijn. Sinds de 2015-oogst wordt ook een klein deel druiven (zo'n 15-20%) toegevoegd uit de cru's Badarina en Bricco Ambrogio. Badarina geeft de wijn energie en lengte, Bricco Ambrogio geeft extra body en structuur. |
| Vinificatie | Traditionele vergisting met een schilweking van 15 tot 20 dagen. Daarna ondergaat de wijn een rijping grote houten vaten (en soms een klein deel in gebruikte tonneaux) gedurende 24 tot 30 maanden. Na de houtrijping rijpt de wijn nog 8 tot 10 maanden in de fles. |

You don't get as much of the licorice here or the high tones, but you do get dried flowers and earthy sensations on this medium-plus Barolo. It offers an accessible style.
