| Over het wijnhuis | De wijnen van Vincent Paris ontvangen jaarlijks hoge scores in de internationale pers en dat is niet voor niks. De Cornas-wijnen van Paris zijn traditionele Rhône-wijnen met een moderne touch. Deze krachtpatsers van Syrah zijn representatief voor wat het kleine wijndorp Cornas te bieden heeft. Cornas staat bekend als een gebied dat wijnen voortbrengt die tijd nodig hebben. Het leuke van de wijnen van Vincent Paris is dat ze ook jong al veel te bieden hebben. |
| Wijngaard en regio | Afkomstig van de wijngaardshelling "La Geynale", die gelegen is in het beste stukje van AC Cornas, namelijk het "Quartier de Reynard". Deze helling is puur zuidelijk georiënteerd en heeft een bodem van graniet. Sommige wijnstokken zijn meer dan 100 jaar oud (gemiddelde leeftijd is 80 jaar). |
| Vinificatie | Na de oogst krijgen de druiven een koude schilweking op 12 graden gedurende één week. De gisting vindt plaats in RVS, waarbij de hoed (de schilletjes die bovenkomen drijven) twee keer per dag wordt ondergedompeld. Dit wordt gedaan om kleur en smaak te onttrekken. De gisting duurt drie tot vier weken, de wijn rijpt daarna drie maanden verder in RVS. Hierna wordt de wijn overgeplaatst naar eikenhouten vaten, waarin de wijn nog een jaar verder rijpt. De vaten zijn twee tot acht jaar oud. Er wordt geen nieuw hout gebruikt. |

| Awards | "Very complex nose of smoke and forest berry fruit with a touch of grilled meat. Extremely dense with enormous fine tannins, but still so bright and energetic. Major concentration at the extremely long, velvety finish, where you feel the wildness that's the signature of this appellation. From a single parcel of 50-year-old vines. Drinkable now, but best from 2026." - James Suckling "The promising 2022 Cornas La Geynale was made with 100% whole-clusters during fermentation. A complex nose explodes with pungent raspberry jam, blackberry compote, roasted herbs, iodine, tobacco leaves, spice-box, candle wax and a splash of menthol. There’s even a little gamey edge. This concentrated elixir hits the palate with mind-boggling energy and frames a massive tannic structure. I can’t wait to taste the final result." - Vinous "Has good weight of fruit, though no huge concentration like in other vintages. Ends on quite firm tannins, but they have a certain suppleness compared to the harsher green tannins elsewhere in Cornas this year. Classic style, with grip and presence that should age with interest, though will always be one for fans of a more ascetic Cornas style. Whole-bunch fermented, from 100-year-old vines grown in Reynard. Aged in used barrels, no new oak. 4,000 bottles made." - Decanter "Whole-cluster fermentation with indigenous yeasts after 5-day cold maceration. Vatting for 25 days with twice daily pumpovers (no punchdowns). Aged for 16 months in used (two to eight years old) oak barrels. Cask sample. Tasted blind. Smoky and slightly reduced on the nose with a hit of black pepper. The palate has good freshness as well as taut tannins – moderate intensity as well on the mid palate. Quite elegant and appealing in style. Medium to full-bodied, dense and concentrated, it's framed by structured tannins, a dry, robust mid-palate and a long, meaty and saline finish. Notably, it is the most overtly tannic wine in the range this year, and the presence of phenols likely enhances its robustness.
