Awards | "The typical garnet colour of Barolo shines in the glass here, with an intense nose of raspberry, dried cherry, camphor and earthy tones with tar and leather. Fruit concentration and sucrosity carry the palate to the finish, with crisp acidity and dusty tannins alongside balanced alcohol. Despite some bold fruit, the wine shows complexity and length." - Decanter "The Schiavenza 2018 Barolo Cerretta does not disappoint. The wine boasts pretty aromatic intensity and balance that was not easy to achieve in this vintage. Fruit is from Serralunga d'Alba, and the intensity and precision of this village is evident here. This Barolo opens to aroma of wild plum, blackcurrant, dark spice, earth, rusty metal and wet clay." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate "Dried cherries, bright floral notes and earthy spice on the nose with a hint of vanilla in the background. Medium-to full-bodied with spicy fruit tones on the palate and fine, velvety tannins that firm up on the finish. Plenty going on, but needs time to even out. Try after 2023." - James Suckling "Enticing aromas suggesting new leather, violet, raspberry tart and forest floor are front and center. It's young and primary but also full-bodied and delicious, featuring ripe Marasca cherry, licorice, truffle and the barest hint of game before finishing on a hint of graphite. Assertive, fine-grained tannins provide support and need a few more years to integrate. This shows real aging potential, especially for the hot vintage. Drink 2025–2037." - 96 punten, Wine Enthusiast over de 2017-vintage "The 2018 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba is a very pretty, aromatic mid-weight wine that offers good depth for the year and fine balance to match. Macerated cherry, spice, rose petal and anise lead into the nuanced, perfumed finish. This is a gorgeous Serralunga Barolo that will drink well with minimal cellaring." - Vinous "Leather, licorice, eucalyptus and tar flavors augment the core of cherry fruit in this red, which has a light resinous note and ends with a pleasant astringency. Best from 2025 through 2043." - 92 punten, Wine Spectator over de 2017-vintage 1 zwart glaasje, Gambero Rosso over de 2017-vintage |
